Enduro® Skylight Shade reduces solar heat collection and light intensity to help you save cooling energy and enjoy your skylights in comfort. Direct sunlight is so intense that even with Enduro® 80% screening, the interior light level remains more than ample. The sky is visible through the shade cover and the inside light is pleasant and natural.

Enduro® Shade is easily attached to the skylight exterior, with no holes or screws required. Each custom skylight cover comes complete with neoprene rubber tie rope, loops at 6 inch intervals, notched corners, loop and end clamps. The shade is simply placed over the skylight, then tied and secured with the rubber tie rope. In areas where solar gain is a benefit in the winter, the cover can be quickly removed and stored for use the following summer.

Enduro® Skylight Shade uses a patented process to weave and heat treat vinyl-impregnated polyester yarn to protect and interlock the yarns for long life with no runs or ravels. Aluminum pigment is added during the process for maximum blockage of ultraviolet rays. The fire retardant fabric is available in both 63% and 80% shade factors and carries a five year prorated warranty.

For flat, rectangular skylights up to 5 feet by 5 feet, an Enduro® Skylight Shade package is available in a 6 foot by 6 foot, 80% screen configuration. Skylight shades are custom made to fit pyramid, barrel vault, ridge and cluster skylights in sizes from 20 to 200 square feet and more. Since their first introduction some twelve years ago, we have designed, fabricated and installed thousands of these energy saving, cooling shades in private homes and commercial facilities across the country.

Unshaded skylights allow excessive heat and glare.

Enduro® Skylight Shade Blocks Ultraviolet Rays and Controls Solar Heat

Ultraviolet (UV) transmittance data recently obtained from an independent testing laboratory shows that 80% screen Enduro® Shade fabric blocks 84% of total UV, while 63% screen Enduro® Shade fabric blocks 60% of total UV.  Unshielded UV rays can seriously fade interior carpeting, furniture and art objects.

Solar transmittance, reflectance and absorptance tests made by the same independent laboratory show significant solar heat control properties of Enduro® Shade fabric.  Detailed performance specifications are available on request.
